SCLEROTHERAPY
Leg Veins
Sclerotherapy treatment consists of injecting a solution that irritates the lining of the vein. The vein then collapses upon itself and with the help of compression it slowly gets reabsorbed by the body. Leg veins are best treated in the winter because sun exposure after treatment is not recommended. Most people should wear compression hose for at least a week after the treatment. This will improve the percentage of veins responding to the treatment. Most small to medium sized vessels can be improved with this therapy. If large, tortuous varicosities are present an evaluation by a vascular surgeon for vein closure may be needed.
